• Nature Gemer-Malohont

    Malohont and Gemer have already jointed for two centuries. It lies in the south of central Slovakia, between the  Slovak-Hungarian border, the towns PoltárRožňava and the Low Tatras.

    This area was created 2-6 millions years ago. The highest hills are Karanč at 757 m (2,483.6 ft) and Šiatoroš at 660 m (2,165.4 ft). There are woods with deciduous trees and two long rivers – Ipeľ and Rimava. The interesting place are Hajnáčka – the ruin of the gothic castle from 14. century and Soví hrad ( Owl´s castle) – archaeological site of bones from Stone age.

    Muránska planina National Park is one of the youngest national parks in Slovakia, opened in 1998. It connects three large mountains :

    Here there are 250 caves and 15 chasms.  Above the village Muráň is the ruin of  medieval castle. It belongs to the largest castles in Slovakia.   

     

    Slovak Paradise National Park 

    It is located southeast of the High Tatras in the northeastern part of the Slovak Ore Mountains.

    Almost the entire area is covered with limestone beech and spruce.

    Slovak Paradise National Park is the most visited tourist destinations in Slovakia.

    The National Park Slovak Karst

    Slovak Karst is the largest and most complete karst developed in Slovakia. Located in the southeastern part of the Slovak Ore Mountains. Most of the national park is covered by deciduous forests with representation winter oak, beech or gross. Territory of the Slovak Karst is one of the richest floristic region of Slovakia.

    Teplý vrch - It is known for the warmest geothermal lake in Slovakia (27°C, 80 F)It is a popular summer resort in Banská Bystrica Region with  the camping site and several accommodation facilities.
